When we got married in 2013, music wasn’t something we did together. Zach had already built a name for himself in the Christian R&B scene, working with artists like Tedashii, Pro, and Da’ T.R.U.T.H., and was even almost featured on a song with Lecrae. April had just released her debut album—an acoustic folk/singer-songwriter project with a country flair.
But by the time we tied the knot, Zach was ready to take a step back. After experiencing the ups and downs of the music industry, he felt God calling him away from Christian R&B and into something new: Christian Contemporary music. For the first few years of our marriage, we set music aside and focused on corporate jobs, eventually relocating to what felt like paradise—Irvine, California.
Before we moved, someone prayed over us and said, “Cover them with everything from A to Z.” April thought, That would actually be a cool band name one day if we ever did music together. Then, a few weeks later, after leading worship at a local church, a woman came up to us and said she kept hearing the phrase “from A to Z.” She had no idea what had been said to us before. That’s when we realized God might be planting a seed.
While in California, we still played music here and there—mainly for church events and friends. But in the summer of 2014, we played a couple of cover songs and one original at an open mic night… and caught the music bug again. We started signing up for any gig that would take us: coffee shops, bars, open mics—you name it.
Eventually, the company we worked for in California shut down. We moved back to Oklahoma for the summer and decided to take a leap of faith. We poured our time and energy into writing and recording our first album, From A to Z—a contemporary Christian album that, while sonically a bit of a mixed bag, felt full of purpose.
We held our album release party at a coffee shop in April’s hometown of Weatherford, OK and began booking every gig we could—fairs, festivals, churches, coffee shops, radio shows, and everything in between.
Since then, we’ve led worship for several churches and continued to write and release original music. In 2020, we completed and released our second album, Seasons—a deeply personal project that felt like it was directed by God, song by song. Although the release happened in the middle of a global pandemic, we still found ways to bring it to life, creating a summer “Backyard Tour Series” that allowed people to experience live music safely in a time of isolation.
Later, we moved to San Angelo, TX to serve with a nonprofit and tour alongside our friend who is also a music artist. During that time, we released an EP called California—a love letter to the place where so much of our journey began.
Eventually, we felt called back to Oklahoma—this time with a heart for investing in our local music scene. We considered places like Austin or Nashville, but it was Oklahoma City where we landed. We bought a house, plugged into the community, and have been gigging locally ever since.
In November 2023, we welcomed our first child, Jayson. His birth came with its own unique challenges that we’ll share more about another time—but even then, we knew that music was still part of our calling, and we didn’t stop.
Over the years, we’ve also released:
🎄 A Christmas album
❤️ A Valentine’s Day fundraiser EP featuring love song covers
🎤 And our first-ever Live Album in 2023
In 2021, we were invited to perform at Silobration at Magnolia Market in Waco, TX—a dream opportunity hosted by Chip & Joanna Gaines. With over 40,000 attendees, it was a major milestone for us. We’ve now played there every spring and fall since! We’ve also been honored to perform at the IBC Conference in Nashville (InfusionBibleConference.com), the Bluebird Café, the Tulsa and Oklahoma State Fairs, and so many other incredible places.
In 2025, we’re still going strong—touring, gigging, writing, and now working on our next full-length album. We also recently joined a full band called Dusklight, where we serve as lead vocalists for weddings and corporate events—an exciting new chapter alongside our ongoing acoustic duo work.
And in this season, we’re especially grateful to be planted at Crossings Community Church in OKC, where Zach now serves as one of the lead worship pastors. It’s a place of restoration, growth, and joy.
Through every twist and turn, one thing has remained the same: we love making music together—and we’re committed to following where God leads next.
