A Fundraiser for His Healing Journey

You never think it will happen to you. You get pregnant and are so excited to welcome your baby into the world — and then tragedy hits.

With our son Jayson, April endured 60 hours of intense back labor that ended in an emergency c-section. In the middle of the surgery, her epidural gave out completely, and doctors had to put her fully under. The anesthesia affected our son, and Jayson was not breathing when he came out. He was rushed to OU Children’s Hospital to undergo cooling therapy in hopes of protecting his brain.

Unfortunately, the procedures didn’t work, and Jayson suffered a severe brain injury from losing oxygen to his brain.

Since birth, his little life has been marked by an uphill fight: a 32-day NICU stay, two surgeries (first to insert a feeding tube, later to remove it), countless therapies, and more doctor’s appointments than most adults face in a lifetime. And he’s not even two years old yet.

Through it all, Jayson has shown incredible resilience and joy. His smile lights up every room, and his spirit inspires us daily. But as he grows, his needs grow too. Equipment that once worked no longer does, and new therapies are needed to give him the best chance at progress. Insurance rarely covers these expenses, and what they do cover often takes months of waiting. Right now, we are faced with urgent costs for specialized equipment, medical care, and therapies to support Jayson’s development.

We are honored that our new cover band, Dusklight, will be hosting a Benefit Concert for Jayson. This will be Dusklight’s debut showcase, and we couldn’t be more excited to share our music with you — but even more than that, this concert is about community rallying around our family and our sweet boy.
